Intuitive Eating

For those who are in touch with their body’s hunger and satiety cues, we support Intuitive Eating.

Intuitive Eating is a self-care eating framework, which integrates instinct, emotion, and rational thought and was created by two dietitians, Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch in 1995. Intuitive Eating is a weight-inclusive, evidence-based model with a validated assessment scale and over 100 studies to date.

While Embodied at Wake fully supports intuitive eating, it is important to note that those active in an eating disorder or in early recovery will likely not be ready for this approach until hunger and satiety cues are fully restored. Until then, we recommend meeting with a dietitian nutritionist who specializes in working with eating disorders to ensure proper nutrition is achieved during the healing process.
